How we rank
We have not play-tested these weapons ourselves. Instead we combine three published rankings that measure the game in different ways, and we show you where they agree. No source measured the same version of the game, so read each column as its own snapshot.
- DungeonsDB, updated 2026-09-29. Damage per second timed on a training dummy at level 101 with the Lightning Surge enchantment, using the best technique for each weapon. The timings are by the creator The Dungeon Fish, measured on the early-access build. We have not re-checked them against the launch build. Source
- Power Up Gaming, published 2026-10-02. An editorial list by the site's writer, with no stated test method. Source
- MetaBot.GG, game build 1.1.1.0. Calculated damage per second for each weapon's full combo from the game files at base stats, compared inside the same weight class. Enchantments and gear effects are not counted. Source
Each tier counts as a score from 5 for S down to 1 for D. Across the three sources 59 melee weapons are ranked by at least one. The 57 that two or more sources rank get a tier, which is the average score rounded to the nearest letter. The other two, Spectral Spear and Tornado Blade, are left out because only one source ranks them.
The sources disagree because the measuring method differs. A heavy hammer with an enchantment can look great in a timed run and weak in a base-stat calculation. Treat the list as a starting point and check the table above for the source that matches how you play. Launch patches can move any placement.
Gear that top builds keep using
One source only: the DungeonsDB list updated 2026-09-29, which rates gear by the loadouts that beat every boss on Hard. Read this as one site's view, not a combined ranking.
- Enchantment: DungeonsDB says Lightning Surge is the enchantment its top weapon results run.
- Armor: DungeonsDB rates the Hivemind Hardhat as its only top-tier armor piece.
- Talismans: Fist of Iron, Twisted Tooth and Glowstone Flask.
- Artifacts: Fighter's Flute with Warrior Drums for damage, and a Turtle Master's Mandolin or Warding Chimes for defence.
Questions
What is the best weapon in Minecraft Dungeons II?
Across three sources, the War Hammer, Heartbreaker, Pride of the Plains and Short Spear come out on top. DungeonsDB measured the War Hammer at 500 damage per second with Lightning Surge on the early-access build. MetaBot.GG lists Pride of the Plains as the best medium weapon at base stats (51.1 damage per second, build 1.1.1.0).
Why do tier lists disagree about the Mace and Redstone Wrecker?
They measure different things. One source times damage in a training room with the Lightning Surge enchantment, where the Mace jump attack is very strong. Another calculates base combo damage without enchantments, where the Mace falls to the bottom. We show both and average them.
Does Minecraft Dungeons II have classes?
No. You pick an appearance, and your equipment defines your playstyle, so a weapon tier list is the closest thing to a class guide.
How often is this tier list updated?
We last checked all three sources on 2026-10-05. The sources were measured on different builds, which we list under How we rank. We update this page in place when a source changes.
